Here We Go Again: Tiny Faith!
Today begins the journey of tiny faith: Fifty Professions of Faith.
What spurred this on?
Well, for one, we realized this thing (tiny as it is) is just bigger than us – and wants to keep going. It started in Advent, it grew in Lent, and with the dawning of Easter we pondered: what’s next?
And then I (Kendra) had an encounter that got my attention. In a parent interview for my child’s Christian preschool, I was asked to give my ‘testimony’ – to talk about my faith. I started with my childhood, how I came to faith fairly young, I talked about my call to ministry, and then I rambled a bit aimlessly about the state of the church; my worries and my hopes. Afterwards, it occurred to me, I needed to figure out a way to shore this up, to hone my “elevator speech” on what I believe.
And then I wondered, do all people of faith need to do this? Couldn’t we all spend some time exploring, finding language for what it is we believe?
Fifty Professions of Faith is born out of that. But this won’t just be fifty posts of “I Believe” statements; hopefully the texture is much richer than that. Instead, there will be narrative, videos, art; humor, confession, rejoicing. All the things that contribute to the stories of how we got here.
What to Expect:
Plan on three posts a week: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays. One from Kendra, one from Stephanie, and one from a guest writer or artist. Subscribe so you don’t miss out! And leave us comments and feedback. This is the kind of thing that happens best in dialogue.
