Midweek Muse: Beauty
There is beauty everywhere, if we have eyes to see.
On one chilly evening last week, as I almost ran from my car to the house because of the wind, I stopped in my tracks at the sight of these beauties. They were so nonchalantly cheerful: not caring that it’s cold yet, or dark or wet. They declared “Spring is here!” at the top of their lungs.
What is beauty, anyway? I’ll leave it to the wise, departed John O’Donohue:
“Beauty isn’t just about all nice loveliness. Beauty is about more rounded, substantial becoming. Beauty, in that sense, is about an emerging fullness, a greater sense of grace and elegance, a deeper sense of depth, and also a kind of homecoming for the enriched memory of your unfolding life.”
